Chapter 1
With the last box deposited on the floor, Sara signed the mover’s paperwork and shut the door behind them. As she turned around in her new apartment she couldn't help but remember the home she left behind. After her divorce she felt the need to not only be physically away from Michael but also geographically. So she had put her resume on Monster.com and hoped for the best.
She was glad she had taken those night courses to have some form of education even though she had no real work experience. Sara was ecstatic when she had checked her email and had an interview offer from Jo Ann Miller a buyer at a small chain store in San Diego California. The position wasn’t more than what she was expecting with her limited education but she was not going to pass up the opportunity to be an assistant of a fashion buyer. Sitting down on her cream suede sectional she picked up her phone and called the number in the email, to set up a phone interview.
"Hello may I speak to Jo Ann Miller"
"May I ask whose calling?"
“Yes my name is Sara Stevens; I'm calling to set up a telephone interview"
"Oh, yes Ms. Stevens we’ve been expecting your call. I'll put you right though"
“Jo Ann Miller"
“Hello this is Sara Stevens I’m calling to set up an interview"
"Oh yes Ms. Stevens I know you were only expecting to set up an interview today but I actually have time now if you don't mind"
“Yes th
at's fine"
“So tell me Sara why are you joining the work force so late in life?"
Sara didn’t want to go into too much detail about her situation, so she focused on all her night training courses. She tried very hard to sell herself as a hard worker, fast learner and up for any challenge big or small. She'd always been told by her family that she gives out to much information and was to open with everyone. So she tried not to let everything spill out. She was as open and honest as she thought she needed to be for the time being. This was a good thing because Jo Ann liked her honesty and her enthusiasm and not only hired her but offered to help her find a moderately priced apartment in a decent area; since Sara had no knowledge about which areas in San Diego would be good to move to, she gladly accepted.
It would take some getting used too, her home in State College, Pennsylvania had been a beautiful 3 bedroom 3 bath house with a big gorgeous bay window she used to sit in and watch the snow fall while reading a book. A large fenced in yard with a fire pit and pool that they would enjoy every summer. She would miss the snow; San Diego could get chilly but had no snow fall ever.
She turned around again in her meager 1 bedroom apartment and tried to think about what needed to be unpacked first. She had all weekend to unpack and set up her new home before she started work on Monday. There were things she needed to buy right away like a bed and couch and dining room furniture. After leaving Michael she hadn't wanted any of the furniture. After 10 years of marriage they had accumulated some extremely beautiful pieces but she wanted no physical memories of her marriage or of Micheal. The ones inside her head would be enough.
They had married young, right out of high school they were so much in love, so passionate for each other. They had been high school sweet hearts and each other’s first in everything. Her heart sank as she thought back to the first time they had made love; she had been 18 and Michael 19 it was the afternoon he had proposed to her. He did everything to make it special. They had driven out to the country. Michael had found the spot a couple of weeks before, knowing that it was the perfect spot, beautiful secluded and totally romantic. He packed them a wonderful picnic with all the trimmings potato salad her favorite, fried chicken, fresh fruit salad, chips, Gallikers 50/50 iced tea and for dessert chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter icing and to top it off he had a dozen red roses.
She was so happy and having such a great time. After they had finished eating their picnic with the sun slowly setting on the horizon he got up from his sitting position onto his knees in front of her and pulled out a ring box. It was a small solitaire diamond, not big by any means but when she looked at it all she saw was beauty and the love that went behind the ring. She was so excited before he had even gotten the words out she leapt into his arms knocking them both back on to the blanket crying.
“Yes, yes” his grin was ear to ear when he heard her answer and he began to kiss her slow and burningly.
He released her mouth only to allow her some air and to ask her to make love to him. She stared at him with tears of happiness shining in her eyes and in a low throaty voice replied “yes, yes”. He began to kiss her again stronger than before with more feeling and passion than she had ever felt in their kisses, as if he was claiming her as his and his alone. He slowly started kissing her along her neck and collar bone whispering words of love. His hand went to cup her breast gently rubbing his thumb across her puckered nipple. A soft sweet sigh escaped her lips. Michael had never touched her so boldly before; it had only been sweet kisses, hugs and hand holding; but now he had asked to make love to her and he was doing so to every part of her body. He began to unbutton her blouse kissing her after every button he undid on her newly exposed skin, all the way down to her navel. Sara began to groan with desire. Once he had removed her blouse he removed his own shirt so that they could touch skin to skin. He reached behind her to undo her bra. Slowly he lowered each strap of her pink lace bra one at a time. Gazing down at two beautiful apple sized breasts with hardened dusky pink nipples. He lowered his head down and placed a simple kiss on her breast, and then he took one nipple into his mouth gently suckled and licked it.
Sara never feeling such a sensation before had let a gasp and then a moan of pure pleasure. Michael moved from one breast to the other giving them both equal attention; palming one and rubbing his thumb against the nipple while he lapped at the other. Sara acting only on instinct began to arch her back to encourage him on. And he greedily accepted her offering. He then began to move his hand under the hem of her white cotton skirt slowly caressing her knee, moving up to her soft thigh and stopped at the apex of her woman hood. He looked deep into her eyes as if asking permission to go further. She nodded and as he kissed her he began to rub her sensitive flesh feeling the warmth emanating from her heated core. Sara started to move her hips with the circling of his fingers and she slowly started to feel a buildup of a sensation she had never felt before.
“Michael?” she asked quizzically.
“Shhhh” he crooned, “Just feel”
Suddenly she began to whimper and cry out as she felt that slow build push up and over the edge into her first orgasm. She began to shiver in his arms as she rode out the sensations that were rocking her body. Michael then began to gently pull her skirt down and her matching pink lace underwear with them. She laid there naked as he stood to his feet to remove his shoes, socks, pants and boxers at an impatiently fast rate before going back down to the blanket and hovering over her. He reached for his pants pocket for the protection he had brought with him. Thou they would be married he did not want them to have children yet. As he finished donning the condom he then nestled between her thighs. Michael looked into her eyes and said
“Sara I’ve been told that a girl's first time can hurt her, but I don’t want to hurt you so if it’s too much just tell me”
“It’s ok Michael I want this”
And with that said she pulled his lips down to hers. As they kissed he positioned himself at her warm wet opening. Gently he started to push his way in inch by inch. Until he came to her barrier and as he push his way through Sara whined softly at the slight burst of pain. Michael looked down at her and stopped moving allowing her body to stretch and to accept all of him. A few tears fell from her eyes and he kissed them away. Michael drew back and then began to move slowly pushing in and out until he found a comfortable rhythm. Hands on each side of her head he kept leaning down to place kisses on her nose, cheeks and collar bone stopping only to claim her mouth in a long passionate drawn out kiss. All that could be heard was the light sounds of the insects buzzing in the countryside, the slight rustle of bushes where little animals moved about, the sound of flesh slapping together and their mingled moans of pleasure, Michael never lost eye contact with Sara until she began to close her eyes and let loose a low and husky moan “AHHHHHHH, Michael” she cried as another orgasm took hold of her. Hearing her in the thralls of passion Michael felt himself building up to his own release, he soon cried out “Sara” after thrusting a few more times into her. He rode out his orgasm grunting one final time before collapsing on top of her.
Chapter 2
Coming back from her memory she slowly looked around her apartment again, covered her face with her small hands and began to cry. With her mascara running down her face she wondered
“What had happened to their marriage? Why had they grown so cold toward each other in the last few years?”
And she knew as soon as she thought it. It had been Michael’s new job, he was determined to work his way up the corporate ladder. He began to want the high life, social parties, prestigious position, knowing all the right contacts and having the so called best of everything. But in doing so the Michael she had grown up with, fell in love with and married had gotten lost. Lost in that financial and fake world; lost in overtime, extra projects to prove himself to all the others, because he also had no formal education after high school. Lost in the women that came onto any good looking man not caring if they were mar
ried as long as it helped boost up their own social standing or if it helped them to build contacts.
He started at the bottom and worked his way up and with each promotion he had grown more distant. Her family had been right to tell her to divorce him. For years she had wanted children but he was too busy and always said they were not financially ready for a child. In reality he had just become too selfish to want a child. He said that he wanted to have a child when he could afford to give the child everything they never had. And so 10 years later Sara was living in a big empty house only seeing Michael before he went to work and when he was at home ready for bed. She would fight with him that he was working too much and he had countered that he had to because he was supporting them both since Sara didn’t work and never had worked. When she started to see lipstick smudges on his collars she tried to think it away.
“He’s going through a phase” “He’s curious about other women because I’m the only one he had ever with” “He really loves me and he’s sorry he’ll stop”
All thoughts she would think to herself. Only his “late” nights at the office became more often and he started keeping his phone locked. So taking the advice of her family Sara began to take some night courses, to not only fill the void that her husband had left behind, but to have some form of education to obtain a job should she decide enough was enough and leave him. One Friday night she reached her limit when a female actually called the house asking for him to confirm their date because he wasn’t answering his cell. With the truth slapping her so hard in the face she could no longer try to think it away and with her family urging her to leave Michael she saw no other option. There was only so much self-respect she had left and if she wanted to keep it she had to stop being a doormat and divorce him.
Now here she was alone in her new apartment unable to stop her tears and sobs over a man who didn’t deserve her love, loyalty or tears. She walked from the front door to the living room and to the closest box marked “linens” and began to unpack blankets and pillows to make a temporary bed on the floor to sleep on; until she could go to a store and buy all the furnishings she needed. Between her divorce settlement and alimony she would receive for the next two years she should be able to get some nice furniture and start a savings for herself. As she began to think about tomorrow and things that needed to be done she slowly stopped crying pulled herself together and continued to unpack more boxes. As she did she began to feel a little better about the fresh start she was giving herself. She was unpacking a box with some of her clothes when her cell phone rang. She put her clothes down on the carpeted floor and went to pick up her new IPhone 5s that she had left in the other room.
